The Cowboys defense proves again why they are one of the top defenses in the NFL again after completely shutting down the Giants offense in an almost 21-6 shutdown on Sunday at MetLife.

The true plays that made the difference in the game was the Cowboys defense, they had 4 takeaways in the game and were a major part of the Cowboys winning the game. They completely shutdown the Giants offense and looked ready for the postseason. A consistent strategy of the Cowboys in their games is to establish a run game. This strategy was indeed successful for the Cowboys as Elliot had one touchdown and the Cowboys had a combined 125 yards rushing on Sunday. Another strategy was one done by the Giants, consistently throughout the game they tried to establish a run game. They did this very well but it was just not enough for the Giants and they never managed to actually achieve anything. Finally Demarcus Lawrence, Micah Parsons, Ezekiel Elliot, and Dalton Schultz had the biggest impact on the outcome of Sundays game.

Although this did not affect the outcome very much, Sterling Sheppard did exit the game in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be an achilles injury. It was later determined that he did rupture his achilles. A controversial call that occurred in the game was in the second half of the game the Giants were in the red zone about to score, however an underthrown ball from Glennon to his Giants receiver was picked off by Trevon Diggs. The original call was that it was incomplete and it was not an interception because Diggs fell out of bounds. However it was then ruled that he would be treated as a receiver during the lay and he had two feet in bounds with possession of the ball making it an interception.

From the Cowboys post game conference with Mike McCarthy he had this to say on the game “obviously well we improved today I mean we continue to start with the defense we you know continue to take the football away so you know that was obviously it's a focus every week but you know we felt like we'd be able to get some opportunities you know coming in to stop the run and you know with our rush and you know our ability to get after the quarterback and you know get our hands on the ball so i thought our defense did a great job with that.”

The last time these two met on October 5, 2021 the Cowboys won 44-21. After this game the Cowboys sit at 10-4 and the Giants are at 4-10. Still the Cowboys hold the all time record between the two 71-47-2.
