In an interview with Jason Vella the Eve of Halloween, he shares his life story in soccer and thoughts on the Jefferson Township High School team. Jason Vella, referred to by his friends and others as J or Jay, played for the program since 2019., He's been a dedicated hard-working player in positions of the midfield and defense.

Vella shared, “Our soccer team has been working very hard for the past few months. We have put a lot of time and effort to be the best we can and we are doing well as a team.” According to him, they have been working very hard and it has shown to some degree with their 7-10 record. The best players on his team in his opinion are Bryan Gaviria, who broke the record for goals by a single player with 66. Another contender, according to Vella, is Gavin Mullin. “Mullin is a very well rounded player and can play any position.” Although Vella wishes his season could have been better he still had some good memories and more to look forward to out of school as he plays for the club, World Class. Vella’s favorite memory out of the four years was “Senior Night” since on that night, Vella scored.

Vella also relays, “Soccer has helped me be a better person. It's made me a lot of friends and it showed me how to be a team and how people can help each other.” He also talks about his other activities: he does track and used to play baseball. “I like to be active and I like to compete in any sport I can.” I asked him what got him into soccer. “When I was younger I liked watching sports on TV and I always liked watching soccer. When I was old enough to start playing I signed up. Ever since then I loved playing sports, especially soccer.” Vella also elaborated also on his idols with his favorite player being a fan favorite, Messi. I ended the interview by asking him how the team will fare in states and if he thinks they’ll be able to keep the winning streak maintained. He replied, “I believe if the team plays hard and doesn’t give up we can win states.”

Not even the night of Halloween was as scary as Vella’s performance on the field as his season comes to end and he hopefully wins states for Jefferson Township High school
